| THE WOOD BADGE |
The Wood Badge program consists of two parts: practical training and an application
phase. The practical training takes place in a camp setting where leadership skills are
learned while participating in the monthly activities of a scouting unit. Wood Badge
training does not cover advanced outdoor skills.
At the conclusion of the six days of practical training, each participant has 6 to 18
months from the close of the course to complete the application phase and meet all of
the goals that have been established in the Wood Badge ticket. The Wood Badge ticket
represents the participant’s commitment to complete a set of personal goals relating to
that individual’s Scouting position. Participants should complete their Wood Badge
ticket no later than 18 months after the course.
Upon completion, the participant will be presented with the Wood Badge certificate, the
neckerchief, woggle, and beads at an appropriate public ceremony.
